Most people struggle to choose a gift, especially if it’s for someone they are not close to. The main reason for this issue is that once you know someone well, you are more familiar with their likes and dislikes, making it easier to choose a gift.
You get an idea of what kind of gift will make them feel special, and which item they won’t look at twice. Real estate agents also face the same issue while choosing a closing gift for their client. But even if you don’t know much about your client, you can still buy an appropriate gift by keeping these simple factors in mind.
Focus on Client Needs
Gifts are often chosen based on a person’s needs or wants. As a real estate agent, you probably won’t have much idea about what your clients want, as people like to keep this information confidential or only share it with their close ones.
So the only option left for brokers is to give something that adds value to clients’ lives. For example, you can gift decorative pieces or smart home appliances. Such gifts are not only a valuable addition to their new home but also something your clients will remember you by. Gifting in such a strategic way helps you leave a lasting impression on the client, and they might choose you for future work.
Consider their Preferences
As a broker, you might not get an idea about the deeply personal preferences of your client, but you can still easily access their basic likes and dislikes. This information is generally sufficient for choosing a real estate closing gift, as you are not a friend or family member expected to make them feel special with deeply personal gifts.
During the conversations, they might have mentioned what kinds of home accessories they like; you can gift something from that list. Such gifts will be appreciated by clients, as people love it when someone remembers random things from conversations.
Choose Displayable Item
When you give a gift to a client, you are not trying to build a personal connection; it’s just a marketing strategy. So if you choose your client’s gift carefully, you can target an even wider audience with your exquisite taste.
Try to give your client something they can display in their home, especially at the entrance or in the main meeting area. For example, if they reside in a coastal region, you can give them some nautical-themed framed artwork. Such gifts not only feel thoughtful to the client but are also appreciated by other people in their family and friends.
Conclusion
Gifting something to your client after closing a deal helps strengthen the connection, so you need to choose this closing gift wisely. When deciding on this gift, consider the client’s needs, what they want in their new home, and whether their friends and family will also notice if it’s a displayable item.
Choosing a closing gift in this careful way will not only help you secure future work from this very client, but also help you get new clients from their friends and family.
